4 Reasons Video Marketing Wins for AEC Firms
The AEC and CRE industries run on relationships. Work comes from people who know you, trust you, and have seen you deliver. But your existing network only scales so far. Video is the most effective tool I know for building trust with prospects—clients and future employees alike—you haven’t met yet.
Here are four reasons video marketing wins for AEC firms.
Video Has the Power to Make Human Connections
Video creates an implied relationship between the viewer and the person on screen. When we watch someone and connect with their personality, it feels like we’ve established a relationship with them—before we’ve ever shaken hands.
For AEC firms, that’s the whole game. Prospective clients and employees get to experience what working with you might feel like, whether that’s through a polished firm story, a project walkthrough, or a casual talking-head video from a principal.
Video Is Not One-Size-Fits-All
A YouTube study of successful videos found that they ranged anywhere from 11 seconds to 40 minutes. Length isn’t the critical variable—the hook is. Does the content capture attention in the first moments, and does it hold engagement all the way through?
The real question to ask of every video: does it deliver genuine value to the viewer? If it does, the format and runtime take care of themselves.
Value Is Not Directly Tied to Your Budget
Great videos live across the full production spectrum—from cinematic, high-production-value brand films to something recorded on a smartphone in the field.
The firms that win on social media are the ones that do both: strategic, high-quality flagship videos, paired with more frequent, less polished videos published consistently. Production budget doesn’t determine effectiveness. Showing up does.
Video Is Dominating More Channels Than Ever
Video has become the primary format even on platforms that weren’t built for it. Instagram shifted from photo-first to predominantly video. Podcasts now routinely publish video versions. Facebook, X, and Threads all increasingly prioritize video in their feeds.
If your firm’s content strategy is still text and still images only, you’re swimming against the current of every major platform.
Bonus: Vertical Video on LinkedIn
LinkedIn’s vertical video feed is still an underexploited opportunity. Competition is low because there simply isn’t much quality vertical content from professional services firms yet. That’s a golden stage of opportunity—the firms that move early will own the attention before the platform saturates.
If your AEC firm wants to look as good on screen as your projects do in person, let’s talk. Video is how firms your size start looking—and winning—bigger.
